Westwind Productions
Westwind are a fairly new manufacturer of the British wargaming scene but have certainly caused some excitement with their Gothic Horrors ranges. The figures are in the newly christened 28mm scale (still 25mm to old foggies like me), are very nicely detailed, cleanly cast, and paint like a dream.
Each casting is a real individual character, and the quality of these models is is unquestioned. true this does reflect in the price, but if you want quality.........
The models received for review reflect a number of the Gothic Horror ranges. The horrifying pumpkin headed killer scarecrow, delighted my son, who immediately laid claim to it for his collection, leading to a tug of war on the stairs. I won and was able to photograph this creature....although strangely he has disappeared from his storage box.......back to the mists of Transylvania perhaps?

Villages from the Headless horseman range show imagination and flair in design and execution, and although primarily designed for fantasy type games, I hope to see these figures appearing in a number of historical displays. In this case the villagers would look great in an American Revolutionary game.

Finally, a range of figures from the Jack The Ripper range. Now I have to admit here to being a bit wary about the subject matter. I am not sure that I see the attraction of a game based around the perverse and horrific actions of a Victorian murderer, who preyed on the weak and exploited of society. That said, the figures themselves are wonderful, and the Holmes and Watson models would, well painted, grace anyone's collection.

Westwind are continually expanding their ranges, with Science Fiction (based on the mysterious and dangerous Universe of Cobalt), World War II (Including 28mm scale vehicles), and Viet Nam, as well as a range of comic book heroes.
The web site is also worth a visit, where you can download a free scenario for their Gothic Horror-The Vampire Wars rules, that are published at £15. The range is carried at shows by the indefatigable Lancashire games, so wander over and check them out.
