T.F.T. Industries Ltd
The resin cast building market has grown and grown over the last few years, with an increasing demand for items that are suitable for the fantasy or science fiction tabletop. Enter T.F.T., a new company that began trading in December, releasing an initial 26 piece range in January. Steven Eserin of T.F.T. informs me that if everything goes to plan the range will have grown by almost 100 models during 2003.

Received for review is a missile silo from the sci-fi range. This range is produced in modular floor sections, some plain others with various equipment or emplacements. This enables a number of combinations to be made from a relatively small number of modules allowing great flexibility for the gamer, who can create defences, refineries, industrial centres, space vehicle interiors made to measure for their scenarios.

The model itself is a 15cm square tile6mm thick, and produced in a light grey resin with dark specks. The floor sections bear patterning such as you find on metallic industrial floors. While the silo itself is perfectly smooth, with the missile head carrying a slight mould line. Generally with these models a wash in detergent is advisable before attempting to paint, this is because of certain anti adhesive coatings remaining on the surface of the model from its production, and these prevent paint from adhering to the surface. Once that is done a thin base coat will ensure that you will be able to paint the model to great effect as shown in the accompanying illustration. The model figures shown are from the excellent i-kore range whose free sci-fi rules can be obtained from their website.

Retailing at £8, the silo is not cheap, but quality rarely is! Highly recommended.
