The Parade Ground
Somerled the Viking Slayer
25mm Dark Ages figures from Old Glory

There are currently 12 packs in this range, ranging from Viking Axemen to a Longship with crew. The only ones I have seen are SVS1 Viking Axemen. There are 30 figures, with separate shields. At £16.00 per pack, which works out at less than 54p per figure, that represents extremely good value for money these days.

In my pack, there were 9 distinct positions. Good enough variety, you may think. However, within each of these basic types there was considerable detailed variation between individual figures. To give an example:

There is one figure best described as 'running with axe' and in my pack, were four of these fine warriors, but no one, identical to his fellow. The first in line, is bare-headed and wearing a chainmail byrnie, axe swung back menacingly from his chest to above his right shoulder, and shield slung on his back. The second, whilst in the same position, has on a fur cap, no byrnie, but a leather jack instead. His axe is longer and in a slightly different position. The last two, are both in byrnies and helmet, but with differing facial detail, helmets, hair and accoutrements.

In all, astounding variety, I don't think that any two figures in the pack are exactly identical. The figures are cast in a variety of warlike poses, most with two handed axes, but some single handed. The castings are clean and crisp, with a creditable amount of clear detail. From what I've seen, an exiting addition to the Old Glory range, and I look forward to seeing the rest of the range.
