Lancashire Games

Years ago when I was still heavily involved in club wargames I met a fellow gamer from Oldham called Alan Lumley. he was a really friendly bloke, and good laugh who took his wargaming seriously, but not necessarily the result!
Its great to see that he is still around and a major force in the hobby as proprietor of Lancashire Games. Compared with the miniature works of art produced by Anthony Barton, or by Foundry, Lancashire Games products may not shine overbrightly. However for the average wargamer, and particular for those starting in the hobby or interested in building large or varied armies, Lancashire games are a lifesaver.
They produce, good, well detailed figures covering a wide range of periods, and they sell they at a remarkably cheap price that reduces as the quantity bought increases. The ranges themselves are continually increasing, and being redesigned in accordance with customer requests and feedback. Lancashire Games are also enthusiastic supporters of shows, and are to be seen up and down the country on a regular basis.

The figures sent for review are from the new Crimean War range, and represent Russian infantry and artillery. All the casting are well detailed and should paint up very well. There is some cleaning and filing required before the figures are ready for priming, particularly at the end of the rifles and on the bases. But once this is removed these chunky little warriors are ready for the paint brush.

The figures received included variants wearing the universal "porkpie" forage cap, and the high crowned spiked helmet. I particularly liked the officer in helmet and the firing riflemen. As usual these figures represent excellent value for money, and I hope to see a sudden increase in Crimean war games over the coming months.
