Thoughts
Having
seen Mikes stall on many occasion, I still see things which appear to be new and
yet have been there for quite a while, this just proves what a lovely amount of
stock Mike takes to the shows and that it’s always worth a stop as you can
find all sorts of useful little , (and big!), items.
First
up for review is a lovely set of three statues, each has been designed to either
stand against a wall, in the middle of a room or outside a building.
All
look nicely detailed and are interesting to look at, and will provide a nice
touch to any Wargame or RPG.

Next
is the new Tech Tunnel corridor. New this year this item is supported by lots of
other sets and single items, and when put together should look awesome.
The
Corridor section is straight, open at both ends with a door, (which can be
closed, or if lifted out, open).
Size,
well the measurements are as follows, 7” long x 3 ½” wide and 2 1/8”
high, (these measurements are taken from the outside edges, the walkway grills
are 1” square at the highest point, walls are 2/8” approx thick.
The
quality of this item is there to see, lots of lovely detail, from the walkway
grills to the stowage lockers / access panels on the walls, this item should
give any gamer the inside of the starship / bunker ect, a realistic look.

Detail
All
the items have a real quality to them, and after a quick cleanup and wash in
detergent, a grey primer shows the detail up lovely, take care not to spray too
heavily though as some of the detail could get clogged with paint.
The
facial detail of the kneeling statue is a good example, the eyes could be
obscured if undercoat is applied too generously so do be careful when priming.
The
tech tunnel corridor looks good in primer so I can’t wait to start putting the
paint on properly, I’m expecting very good results and I have a gut feeling
that I won’t be disappointed!
Painting
Wow!
Talk about a nice finish, all the items come up great, the kneeling statue I
think has come out looking really nice, I went for a gold look to this one, and
a few coats with highlighting gives a really nice effect, yes I’m quite
pleased with that!
The
tech tunnel corridor took a bit of work, but it was worth it, I used a dry
brushing technique on the main walls and painted the walkway grills and a few of
the details such as the lamps and the buttons for the door, I really think that
a lot of these set out will look truly spectacular and will give gamers hours of
enjoyment.

What’s
available for Tech Tunnel?
Looks
like Mike is really going to go the whole hog with this lot, (Nothing out of the
ordinary there then!), currently there are the corridors, corners, junctions,
rooms and of late a set of decorative items to fill out an entire starship! One
of the features I do like the look of is the lift, a lot of thought has gone
into this and can be placed in the down or up position, (I know because Mike
showed it me! J
).

Final
Thoughts
Some really excellent pieces that I think will appeal to quite a few gamers, check them out at either a show or online via the Ainsty Castings website, there is loads to see and buy so if this set of items don’t sail your boat I’m sure you’ll find something that does, Oh and yes he does rafts too and a jetty!
