Kelly's Heroes World War II 20mm Range

Russian Scouts

While wandering around Phalanx I became aware of a range of models that I had not noticed before (excuse my ignorance, but as I am not a modern gamer I tend to be blinkered to the subject). What attracted me to these though was the unusual subject matter of some of the models.

The group presented for review represents Russian scouts, and snipers, and very nice they are two, with a range of poses that are both realistic and imaginative. There are three scout figures, the first is advancing warily carrying a machine carbine, and wearing a soft forage cap, camo smock and a small rucksack. The detail on this model is excellent and I am sure it will paint up wonderfully.

The second figure is crouched low leaning forward and pointing, again a finely detailed model, although I think it leans forward a little too much for comfort. The third guy is lying prone, cradling a pair of binoculars. His head is covered with a camo cloth and what seems to be a schmeisser lies next to him. From above this is a very nice model, and that if the position he is likely to be most often viewed, but some detail is lost around the face and arms when viewed from the front.

The sniper models are again modelled with some thought and imagination. The first lies prone, peering down his scope, the body position is natural, and the camo smock is covered with lose foliage, and excellent model. The second model has the shooter kneeling, wearing an infantry blouse and soft hat. I am not sure with this figure whether the sniper is representing a female sniper, as the detail around the face indicates long hair, although it could be a camo veil. The final figure, of course standing, holds the rifle at the ready as he advances cautiously. The uniform of full camo smock and trousers with added foliage is very finely represented. There is some minor loss of detail around the head, and the rifle needed to be carefully straightened, but these are very minor quibbles about a very good model.

In all a welcome addition to the already burgeoning World War II market. Full details of ranges can be obtained from : -
