Baccus 6mm

Pete Berry is a familiar character at many wargames shows up and down the UK, but I wonder how many in the hobby would recognise him? or hoe many have taken the time out to study the painted figures on his stand? Well in my humble opinion those who have not are missing out on a major facet of the hobby.

I know that 6mm wargaming is not everyone's cup of tea, but if you want to fight really big battles on a reasonable size table, if you want to represent the depth of a battlefield beyond the reach of an outstretched arm, if you wish to enjoy the excitement of grand tactical manouevre, then you really should consider investing in these superb little men.

Forwarded for review is a selection of the new Napoleonic Russian range, and the older but essential French opponents. The models are purchased in packs of 20 infantry bases, 15 cavalry bases, or 4 artillery. The bases consist of 4,3, and 1 figures respectively.

A full range of troop types are available with Russian infantry in both shako or kiwer. The cavalry types are cast in the uniforms of 1803-1808, or the later issue. And for those of you doubting Thomas's who believe that the figures are so small you could not tell the difference....you are wrong! The detail on these figures is superb, and when painted with acrylics the engraving really stands out, as well if not better than on some 15mm ranges.

The French range is also extensive, though there are perhaps a few gaps in the range such as lancers. That said though most of the troop types required are available to enable you to refight the majority of actions of the campaign of 1812. Now all we have to do is wait for the Prussians!

To supplement the models Baccus produce a range of printed flags, that add the perfect finishing touch to the models.

In conclusion, highly recommended. For more info visit the Baccus website at http://www.baccus6mm.com
