WarCry
![]() |
Never slow to get stuck into any burgeoning games area , Warcry is GW's card based fantasy wargaming concept. It follows the familiar approach taken by Dixie, and Battlegound, and is fun…… if you like this sort of thing.Personally I do, it is a good way to kill time on a train journey, to fill a quiet night in the pub, or a dead TV night. And of course the whole game can be slipped into your back pocket for convenience.

Playing the game is simple, Each player draws five cards and then take turns in building up their forces which create a battleline with a reserve force. The player with the most tactical points deployed in reserve takes the initiative and carry out an offensive action.

Combat is decided by a combination of dice rolls, and the allocation of tactical points, and that is where the skill lies. The cards themselves are very colourful and certainly attractive to kids, as I keep finding mine mixed in with my son's Pokemon and Magic cards. probably the best way to begin playing Warcry is to obtain a starter box such as the Grand Alliance. This contains a 30 card army pack, a 30 card action pack, a set of the full rules and strength gauge. Additional cards can be purchased in small packs, or in further box sets.

Soon to be released is a new set of cards called the "Horus Heresy", giving a game system based in the Warhammer 40K universe, and a tradeable miniatures game based on the Lord of the Rings film characters, and that will include 40mm ready painted plastic models.
