Black Hat Miniatures' Martian Empires range of 18mm Victorian Science Fiction figures will be launched at Warfare at Reading on 20 to 21 November.
An accompanying set of fast-play rules designed for the Martian Empires range allows large-scale Victorian SF games to be played using stand-based units. The rules use 2D6 throughout and cover all troop types including VSF machines. The Martian Empires rules will be published by Oozlum Games (www.oozlumgames.co.uk) who already publish the Huzzah! set of Napoleonic rules.
The range is sculpted by Alan Marsh (whose credits include several ranges for Eureka Miniatures) and will cover the whole of the Martian conflict, from the initial invasion in 1880 and the British resistance, to General Gordon's first Expedition to Mars and the subsequent "Scramble for Mars" as the other European powers joined in.
The initial release will cover British Expedition Infantry, Imperial Martian Infantry, Martian Askaris and Giant Tribal Martians.
Subsequent releases will add British Home Service troops, British and Martian Cavalry, the Cephalods of the invasion forces and other more generic Victorian Science Fiction figures. A range of vehicles covering fliers, walkers and the tripods is also scheduled for production.

About Fighting 15s
Fighting 15s (www.fighting15s.co.uk) is both a figure painting service for wargamers and a stockist of Eureka and Black Hat Miniatures. Fighting 15s is run by Ian Marsh and specialises in historical figures, particularly 15mm/18mm Napoleonics.
Ian has been involved in the games industry for many years. He is a former editor of White Dwarf, and has published two sets of rules. The first, a Doctor-Who roleplaying game called Time Lord, was released in 1991 by Virgin Publishing. His second set of rules, a tactical set of Napoleonic wargames rules called Huzzah!, was released free on the web by Oozlum Games in December 2003.
