Battlefields
Scenarios for Wargamers (Vol II/ No1)
![]() |
Published by the busy chaps at Partizan Press and Caliver Books this handy little volume is a quarterly journal designed to help wargamers to study and refight historical engagements.
This time the battles presented were Tamames 1809, Nieuwpoort 1600, Roundway Down 1643 and Medina and Bailen 1808. In addition there is a Forum page, a discussion about the 16th century and whether it is neglected by the wargaming fraternity, plus an illustrated study of a Chinese fort.
Produced in a high quality glossy Softback format, 56 pages packed with colour and black and white illustrations, and lacking the usual pages of trade ads, Battlefields must represent decent value for money retailing at £5.99.
And the standard of writing is also high. I found all of the articles of interest but especially enjoyed the Battle of Nieuwpoort, and the featured contribution from Major Tony Clunn MBE concerning The Varus Battle, and the hunt for the battlesite or sites which I found truly fascinating. Recommended.
