Welcome
to the WAB Doubles.
This
is an edited highlights copy of the general event letter.
A more
complete
copy can be found on the WPS Site
http://www.players-society.com/
as well as shortly on the Foundry
website http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/main.asp .
This
years event will cost £10 each for WPS members and £15 each for non
members and my plan is make this event a low cost affair with any profits
going to the British Royal Legion Poppy Appeal as the event is quite
near to Remembrance Sunday.
As
normal I will be organising/umpiring but Warren Gleeson has (foolishly)
offered to help out with administration and organisation and so I shall
take him up on the offer- thanks Warren!
So
please send your cheques and membership/entry details to Warren at
10
High Street, Sutton, ELY
, CAMBS
CB6 2RB
and
if you have any questions please get in touch either by email
robb@games-workshop.co.uk
or Tel 0115 916 8466 day time.
Please
make cheques payable to the Warhammer Players Society.
Once
we have your entry Warren will drop you a quick note of
confirmation
and away we go!
Use
the extra rules below and you may also wish to download the WAB errata
from www.warhammer-historical.com for amendments (if it's ready!)
or
just use the popular conventions in play at many events around the country.
The weekend is all about fun though, and so we will just improvise
on the day for any unusual rulings that may be required if
something
crops up. (It rarely does however)
If
you are entering as a team of two players you need to bring one 3000 point
army from one army list.
If
you are a single entry, bring a 1500 point army from a suitable list and
you will be matched with a partner on the day.
So yes, 3000 point armies
have only one general, and two 1500 point armies get two, but of course
those 3000 point armies will be better organised.!?
Players
with 1500 point armies will select which player on each side will
be the General for that game and who will be sub commanders. The sub commander
will have his leadership characteristic reduced by one point. The
General will provide leadership to all troops in the army, the sub commander
can only provide leadership to his own forces. However if the General
dies, the sub commander will become the General (after taking
his
panic test), and all units will be able to use his leadership (but still
at the one point less).
Generals
get to make all the important
decisions
during the game, and blame sub commanders for losses. If you
cannot
decide who will be General, take it in turns, or roll a dice! Army
standards will provide the same benefits, but you can only ever
reroll
once, even if both are within 12". Greek Oracles can only be used on
appropriate
Greek units, D6+D3 for 1500 point armies.
For
3000 point armies, technically there is no need for someone to assume
the role of General, but I am sure that we will see plenty of
squabbling
over who is in charge!
It
goes with out saying the armies must be fully painted.
The
event itself.
We
plan to play 4 games over two days. Please
aim to arrive at Foundry between 9.30 and 10am on the Saturday
and
Sunday, so we can make a prompt 10am start.
Day ones games will be randomly
determined (except for some grudge games) and day two will use
the
swiss system.
Rob
Broom.
