First Thoughts

First thing I recognised when I opened the packet was the B24 Liberator, (Well it was the biggest!), This I felt was a very good and detailed representation of the famous bomber, The only thing on the model I spotted that was missing, (You may be expected to paint these in), were the left and right waist gunner positions.
Close examination reveals all the panel details and if you view the underside, the undercarriage, (which is retracted).

The “glass” and “leading” is very well depicted, and does give enough detail to work with if you wish to detail your model during painting, ( I don’t know if some of you have ever made Airfix models, but the problem with the structural supports being way out of scale thickness on the glass work of these kits, does not appear on the tumbling dice models), all proportions are it seems very reasonable and go towards making this a very nice model.
Next out of the bag was a Hawker Hurricane, This too although smaller than the Liberator, (Obviously!), has exactly the same standard of detail and proportion that the Liberator has, and with no exception.
Last but not least was , what I think is an Albatross, (sorry TD if this is not the case, I was just given a packet and a list, and not being particularly well up on WWI aircraft I’m not quite sure, (Blame John, He’ll not mind!!!).

Anyway! The plane came in three pieces, top wing, lower wing and main fuselage, and the undercarriage.
Once this had been cleaned and prepared it was sticking time, but more on that in a while…. The detail of all three pieces was nice I particularly like the pilots head sticking out of the fuselage this was also like the plane proportioned, but I must admit I didn’t get the magnifying glass out to see if the facial details were their, that would I think be going a bit far, especially at this scale!
Again a nice model. The undercarriage detail is nice with the tyres on the wheels being easy to distinguish and I feel this should, if not all of them, should be nice to paint.

Not a lot, and same goes for mould lines, their was a little bit of cleaning to do on the Albatross before it could be glued together but this was to mainly make sure of a nice fit and gluing surface.
Cleanup didn’t take long at all.
Painting

This was to say the least fun! I am used to bigger aircraft when it comes down to painting, but you can get just as good results from these if you take your time, I did get a little carried away with the Liberator and had a crack at the nose art name, it’s supposed to say “Friday the 13th” but the scale defeated me so I suggested it instead.
This put me off trying one of the more complicated camouflage designs on the Albatross, but I think the colour scheme works well enough.
The Hurricane was surprisingly easy to paint and again I enjoyed that little challenge, you can get surprisingly good camouflage effects on the model even though it is a small scale.

Yes, a nice selection of planes, and looking at the list that I was provided with, a really good selection to choose from.
I couldn’t see anything wrong with any of the planes to report to you to be honest, apart from the waist positions on the Liberator, hopefully the chap at Tumbling Dice will be able to put you right on that point.
Well I must say well done TD keep up the good work.
