25mm American Civil War

The American Civil war continues to be one of the most popular wargames periods and so it is not surprising that manufacturers are continually producing new and better models to cover this war of brother versus brother.

The Sash and Sabre range are stocked by Old Glory UK . The models themselves are a large 25mm, closer to 30mm, and so will blend in well with a variety of available products. The models are well proportioned, cleanly cast, and very well detailed. I particularly like the way in which these models accurately reflect the dress of the day as recorded in contemporary photographs, rather than the image so often portrayed by Hollywood historians. The bags retail at £8.50.

The first bag (CS9) contains a selection of 10 dismounted Confederate cavalry, they are in a variety of poses and carry a selection of weapons including a very sawn-off shotgun . I really do like this group, and reckon they will grace either a wargames table or a diorama.

The second bag (US8) contains a US cavalry command group of four models. There is a finely detailes bugler with a heavily frogged shelljacket, a strikingly moustachioed officer with drawn revolver and saber a pointing sergeant, and a crouching guidon bearer sans guidon. Again these are excellent figures that deserve a wider distribution, so give them the once or even twice over.
