Osprey Men-at arms
The Hermann Goring Division,
by Gordon Williamson Illustrated by Stephen Andrew.

Well Osprey over the years have done many a good book for all of us
gamers, and I must admit I am no different to anyone else when it comes to WW2 my Germans are the Basic Infantry and the elite SS,but this
book has given me food for thought.
The Goring Division, Luftwaffe cannon fodder I hear you say, well this
publication may change your view on that. The book starts of with their humble start in 1933 with just 400
men and pre war they were more like police, but slowly under Goring this group got bigger and
bigger, by the time war started. They stayed in Berlin to perform duties there,
but they were committed to action in 1940 and they started to earn a good reputation.
This book has the limitation of all Ospreys, because of space it just scratches the surface. This book tells you of their battles in Tunisia, Sicilly, Italy and their very brave rearguard action on the Russsian front, as slowly the Russians pushed the Germans back.
The book follows the normal Osprey format detailing unit history, equipment and uniform details . These, including the slight differences from other Wehremacht units are detailed in some great Colour plates and Black and White Pictures. This is a great book by Osprey on a very under rated German Unit, which eventually grew to be two full Divisions in strength, and a elite unit, and which Fellow Germans respected has a unit that would stand firm under extreme pressure.
If you like your WW2 Ospreys this is a good one to have, all the normal bits are there, and it is well worth the time to read. Well done Osprey for producing a great book.
