First Thoughts
Oh Lordy these guy’s are small!
After the initial shock of how small these figures were, I cast a wondering eye over them.
The first ting that struck me, was that these were not the sort of “blobs” of metal one would expect, but highly detailed little figures!
It really is incredible when you look at them, buttons, belts the works, I was amazed as it was nothing like what I’d expect on a 6mm figure.
Cavalry and Artillery, all are as well detailed as each other.

The infantry come on a stand of four, the cavalry are set nose to tail in blocks of three and also have cutting grooves on the cavalry bases to aid in parting them.
I don’t know how many of you out there are devout 6mm gamers but if you are , or for that matter not, these figures are definitely worth a good hard look.
I as you all know am a devoted 25mil gamer, I’ve done as others in the past and ignored anything smaller than 15mil, and counted these as blobs of metal not worth the hassle of collecting, so let me assure you that I have now taken the blinkers off, and now look at the ranges of figures with a wider perspective!
Even though my eyesight is not as good as it used to be, I was totally gob smacked when I took a few preliminary shots with the digital camera, (just to check the macro facility would cope with how small the subject matter was), and then blew them up to see the results, (and that was without undercoat!)

Flash
Very little, most of this was on the bottoms of the bases, any that was upon the figures was very easily removed, mould lines? I couldn’t see any!
Painting
Now this was a real test for me, as I’ve never painted anything this small before, and I wasn’t sure as to how to start, what technique to use or what, so after a quick chat via email to John, I went to the Baccus website, ( www.baccus6mm.com/ ), where upon I came across their section on how to paint these miniatures.
Once I’d built up the courage, I took a deep breath and began…..
I found the technique against the grain some what, so I tried painting the figures both ways, mine and theirs, both worked, but I must admit after 26 years of learning to paint a figure, you do get set in your ways! So I found the style quite strange, but it is effective.

It is I assure all you 25mm guys out their that they are easier to paint than you think, give them a whirl, with a bit of practice you’ll be surprised!
I don’t think I did too badly although it did take a few attempts to get to the standard you see in the pictures, and I suppose with more practice I might do a better job!
Final thoughts
As I’ve already stated, the figures are very nice and although 6mil is not really my bag, (my eyes couldn’t cope), don’t pas them off like I used to, take a look have a go and see what YOU think, you may find that they really are worth noticing and buying!
If you are a 6mm gamer or you are contemplating gaming at 6mil, Baccus are definitely worth buying.
All you need for your army is their, right down to the wonderfully detailed flags that they produce.
Commendation
What’s this I here my regular readers say!
I feel that I must commend Baccus for their on line painting support, many manufacturers sell figures, but, they don’t tell you how to go about painting them, Baccus on the other hand are one of the few who do.
Not only do they show you how to paint them stage by stage but also how to base them.
So Well done Baccus for producing such nice figures and well done again for providing the additional information!
10/10!
