Games Workshop

How to paint Citadel Miniatures

I keep hoping that there will be a bright flash, a sound of heavenly music, and suddenly I will be able to paint to a standard good enough to have my figures featured on the front Cover of Wargames Illustrated or in the pages of a games workshop publication. But it hasn't happened yet, and with My blurring eyesight and shaking hands it may take a miracle for me to develop the necessary skills.

In the meantime I will keep plugging away with the techniques and tips from the experts and hope to get a gradual improvement in what I turn out. And a decent collection of such tips has been needed for some time, so this volume from Games Workshop is very welcome. Some may be put off by the fact that the techniques described are used in the preparation of fantasy and scifi models, but don't be. the skills described in the use of colour, shading techniques, basing, washing, drybrushing etc are just as applicable to historical figures.

the sections take you step by step through the preparation of the model for painting, whether metal or plastic. There is discussion of different painting styles, the use of undercoats, how to use inks and glazes, and apply those all important finishing touches. Theree are then a series of step by step instructions where you are taken through the painting of a selection of models. This I found particularly useful as you could see how the techniques described earlier were put into use.

In all a very well produced and useful book, packed with information of practical value to anyone interested in improving their painting skills and well worth the £12.00 price.
