Cotton Jim's flags

There are a couple of things that make an averagely painted wargames unit into a good one. The first is decent basing, the second is impressive looking flags. And I think that the market is never too small for a decent range of excellently produced flags.
One range that I have heard a lot about, but had not had the chance of checking out is the selection from Cotton Jim's Flags, a US based producer. So I was more than pleased when I opened a plain brown padded envelope and out fell a mini torrent of clear plastic packages with a wide selection of standards from a variety of countries and periods.

All of the flags received are produced to a very high standard, with excellent detail, and reflecting a slight eggshell sheen. Each pack contains a number of flags, for example The Seven Years War Irish units contains two colours for three Regiments, giving six flags in all.
The range is extensive, covering not only the favourites like the American Civil war, and Seven Years War, but also the unusual such as Mexican, and Arab forces. The most unusual perhaps are in the colonial range, which include British in India such as Bombay Infantry regiments.
Napoleonics are covered in detail, with not only the major protagonists, but also allied troops such as the Confederation of the Rhine, and Bavarians available. I was particularly impressed by the English Civil war selection, the cavalry cornets are excellent, and the Scots infantry standards very impressive indeed.

The flags are produced in an accurate 25mm or 15mm scale, and this may be a slight problem given the erratic nature of figure scales, though the quality of these flags should overcome any such difficulty.
Currently there is no UK source for these flags, which are available by mail order from the above address. Jim also sent a range of quick play wargames rules for review, and these are being
play tested at the moment and will feature in future Forum reviews.
