The HARMONY Gauteng Regional Championships

The HARMONY Gauteng Regional Championships was held at the Old Edwardian Society, 11 Ninth Avenue, Lower Houghton, Johannesburg on 6 and 7 March 2004.

Fresh from his victory at the North West Championship in Potchefstroom in January, Mothusi demonstrated that he is the man to be beaten in draughts in South Africa.

Mothusi who hails from the Technikon Witwatersrand is a relatively new player to competition play, having made his debut at the Free State Championships in September 2003. his second place position at Free State immediately placed him as a strong contender to the status quo, but few thought that he would move up the ranks to totally dominate the game.

Through Mothusi's and Rhonnie Manana's leadership of the TWR club, the club has started to totally dominate both the Morabaraba and Draughts sections. Proof is that plasyers from the TWR took every single position in the sections that they could.

Figure gaming was again dominated by the Old Edwardian Wargames Club. Even though there is much development and improvement (especially at the Independent Wargames Team) taking place in all the clubs in Gauteng, the Old Edwardian Wargames Club is hanging on to its position as the top figure games club in the country.

The final top three positions were:
