The South African Wargames Union held its annual S A Handicap Championships on the weekend of 7 and 8 December 2002 at the Linpark High School in Pietermaritzburg.
The championship received a record number of players, was televised by SIYADLALA and produced an exciting championships as new players successfully challenged the established 'old guard'.
The final top three positions were:
